001 Vintners is a Napa Valley label owned by the Martignetti family of Boston, whose patriarch Carmine Martignetti was granted retail liquor license number 001 — the inspiration for the name — by the state of Massachusetts in 1933 after Prohibition's repeal. Since the late 1970s, the family's passion for wine led them to Napa Valley, where third-generation principals Carmine and Beth Martignetti and their sons now produce a single, mailing-list-only Cabernet Sauvignon from hillside vines at Ecotone Vineyard, crafted at Hudson Napa Valley with winemaker Graeme MacDonald.
