Ata Rangi is a pioneering Martinborough estate founded by Clive Paton in 1980 on a stony former sheep paddock, now producing what many regard as New Zealand's greatest Pinot Noir. Its vines include the famous "Abel clone" — reputedly cuttings from Romanée-Conti — and the family estate remains a benchmark for perfumed, complex southern Pinot.
