Bure Family Wines was founded in 2006 by Valeri Bure and Candace Cameron Bure, alongside partner Joshua Peeples. Born in Moscow, Valeri played eleven seasons in the NHL and earned two Olympic medals before a back injury ended his career in 2005, turning a passion for wine developed during his playing years into a second act. The couple launched with the 2006 vintage using purchased fruit, then acquired a two-acre hillside parcel on the St. Helena benchland in 2011, planted to the Bosché clone of Cabernet Sauvignon and neighboring estates including Colgin's Tychson Hill, Grace Family, and Vineyard 29. Luc Morlet, whose résumé includes Staglin Family and Peter Michael, serves as winemaker, and the family sources additional fruit from premium Napa and Sonoma parcels including Beckstoffer To Kalon. Their son Lev is now part of the business. The label features a bird of prey, once a symbol of the Russian royal family, clutching a hockey stick, adapted from a crest belonging to Valeri's great-grandfather, watchmaker to the Russian Tsar.
