Caterwaul is what happens when a farmer and a winemaker who have worked around each other for years finally decide to build something together. Matt Hardin is a sixth-generation Napa resident who runs Hardin-Clark Vineyard Management and farms ultra-premium fruit for private clients; Thomas Rivers Brown makes the wine, bringing the résumé he built at Schrader, Outpost and his own Rivers-Marie. The Napa Valley Cabernet draws on roughly ten different AVAs across the valley, and a Stags Leap District bottling comes off rows belonging to Jim Regusci, Hardin's father-in-law. The wines are poured in St. Helena at Royal We, a collective tasting room shared with several other labels Brown makes.
