Dalla Valle Vineyards was founded in 1986 by Gustav and Naoko Dalla Valle on a 20-acre bench in Oakville's eastern hills, farmed on volcanic, iron-rich soil unlike much of the valley floor below. Its flagship, Maya — a Cabernet Sauvignon/Cabernet Franc blend named for the couple's daughter, born the same year the vineyard was planted — has earned a 100-point score from Robert Parker. Maya Dalla Valle now carries on as winemaker, continuing the estate her parents built from a single hillside purchase in the early 1980s.
