Gamble Estates, formerly Gamble Family Vineyards, is owned by Tom and Colette Gamble, and the Gamble family has farmed in Napa Valley since 1916. That long history shows in the family's vineyard holdings, which span several of the valley's best-known districts: Oakville, Yountville, Rutherford, Mount Veeder and St. Helena. For many years the family focused on growing grapes, and the first bottling under the Gamble Family Vineyards name came with the 2005 vintage. The lineup centers on Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux-style reds from the family's own vineyards, along with a well-regarded Sauvignon Blanc. Because the Gambles farm in so many parts of the valley, their wines offer a grower's view of how Napa's different districts shape Cabernet. For HeyVino readers, Gamble Estates is a family producer with deep roots and estate-grown wines.
