Ilsley Vineyards is a multi-generation family estate in the Stags Leap District. The family's story there begins in 1954, when Ernest Ilsley began growing grapes on the land along the Silverado Trail, and the Ilsleys have farmed it ever since. The vineyard covers about 23 acres at 6275 Silverado Trail in Napa, and the family released its first commercial vintage under the Ilsley name in 2000. Founding winemaker Craig McLean was followed by Heather Pyle-Lucas, who made the wines from 2009 to 2018. Cabernet Sauvignon is the focus, with both an estate Cabernet Sauvignon and a Reserve Cabernet, and the range also includes Seis Primas, introduced in 2007, plus Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. For HeyVino readers, Ilsley offers Stags Leap District Cabernet from a family of growers who know the district's soils as well as anyone.
