A benchmark South African estate whose farm was acquired in 1919 by statesman Paul Sauer, with the first estate-labeled wine released in 1973. Family-owned by Sauer's grandsons, it is famed for Pinotage, and its 1989 vintage won winemaker Beyers Truter the Robert Mondavi Trophy for Best Winemaker in the World at the 1991 International Wine and Spirit Competition.
