Mending Wall is a winery on the Silverado Trail at 3730 Silverado Trail, between St. Helena and Calistoga, owned by Frank and Kathy Dotzler together with Mark Pulido and Donna Walker. Ground was broken on April 16, 2014, and the wines are made by Thomas Rivers Brown, one of Napa Valley's most acclaimed winemakers. The name comes from Robert Frost's poem Mending Wall, a fitting nod for a winery built on friendship and partnership. Mending Wall works with a select group of vineyards in the northern valley, including Tofanelli, Tench, Tournahu and Palisades, and the lineup includes Cabernet Sauvignon from these sites and the Stone on Stone Sauvignon Blanc. Visits are by appointment. The winery shares owners with Pulido-Walker, so the two labels make an interesting pair: Mending Wall focusing on the northern Napa Valley and Pulido-Walker on Mount Veeder. For HeyVino readers, Mending Wall is a good way to taste Thomas Rivers Brown's work from northern Napa sites.
