Mirror Napa Valley is the wine project of Rick Mirer, the quarterback taken second in the 1993 NFL draft immediately after Drew Bledsoe — who went on to found his own Walla Walla winery, a rivalry the two continued over Port and Brunello during the off-season. Mirer's interest deepened during stints with the 49ers and Raiders, and the inaugural Mirror Cabernet Sauvignon came from the 2005 vintage, with Kirk Venge, formerly of Mumm Napa, making the wines since. The range is deliberately narrow — Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc, plus vineyard designates from Rutherford, Stagecoach and Sugarloaf — and proceeds support the Mirer Family Foundation, which funds children's health and education charities.
