Established in 1998 and built into a cult name by Kathy and Frank Dotzler, a former tech-industry executive who bought the remote Howell Mountain site in 2003. With winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown, its wines earned scores up to 100 points from Robert Parker; French insurer AXA Millesimes acquired it in 2018.
