Paradigm Winery sits on Dwyer Road in southern Oakville, on a 55-acre estate Ren and Marilyn Harris purchased in 1975. Marilyn's grandparents emigrated from Liguria to Napa in 1890; Ren is a sixth-generation Californian descended from a member of the 1769 Portolá expedition. They replanted the property from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Chenin Blanc and Riesling to Bordeaux varieties, then sold fruit for sixteen years before building a winery and releasing a debut 1991 vintage made by a then-young Heidi Barrett, who stayed 35 years before handing off to Mark Fasi in 2025. Every bottle is grown, fermented, aged and bottled on site; the vineyard was certified organic in 2021 and earned fish-friendly farming accreditation in 2023.
