Paul Hobbs Winery is the flagship label of one of the most influential winemakers of his generation. Hobbs began his career at Robert Mondavi Winery from 1978 to 1984, where he had a hand in creating Opus One, then rose to vice-president and winemaker at Simi before consulting for Nicolás Catena in Argentina from 1989. He launched Paul Hobbs Wines in 1991, and completed his own winery near Sebastopol in the Russian River Valley in 2003. While the winery is in Sonoma County, Hobbs is equally known for Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, including bottlings from the Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard in Oakville. He also co-founded Viña Cobos in Mendoza in 1998 and has consulted for dozens of wineries in California, Argentina, Chile and Hungary. On HeyVino, Paul Hobbs Winery sits separately from CrossBarn, his more accessible second label, so readers can track deals on each.
