Pestoni Family Estate Winery traces five generations back to Albino Pestoni, who left Monte Carasso in Swiss Ticino in 1882 and built a winery in Bell Canyon above St. Helena in 1892 — Bonded Winery 935, which still stands as one of the valley's few unrestored ghost wineries. Bob and Sylvia Pestoni opened the modern operation as Rutherford Grove in 1994, then renamed it for the family in 2017 to mark 125 years of Napa winemaking, partly to stop being confused with the Rutherford Grill. Fourth-generation Andy Pestoni makes the wines across roughly 60 estate acres, including a Sauvignon Blanc off vines planted in 1923 and Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from both the Rutherford ranch and a Howell Mountain estate.
