Scarecrow is one of Napa Valley's most coveted cult Cabernets, produced from old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon on the historic J.J. Cohn Ranch in Rutherford — including a block of vines dating to 1945 known as "Old Men." Founded by Bret Lopez, grandson of MGM studio head J.J. Cohn (whose films inspired the Wizard of Oz-referencing name), Scarecrow is allocated through a fiercely competitive mailing list and has earned perfect 100-point scores.
