Sciandri Family Vineyards is a small family estate in Coombsville. Ron and Roberta Sciandri moved onto the property in 1989, and the family planted just over four acres of vines on the hillsides of their 22-acre site. The first vintage, in 2006, was a 100 percent Cabernet Sauvignon. For more than 15 years the wines were made by Don Baker, and the Sciandris' daughter Rebecca later stepped into winemaking herself, beginning with a 2016 Sauvignon Blanc, so the label has become a second-generation project. Ron Sciandri died in 2015. The lineup includes estate Cabernet Sauvignon, a Coombsville Cuvée, Nello, a Sauvignon Blanc and a rosé of Syrah. Coombsville, in the cool southeastern corner of Napa Valley and an official AVA since 2011, gives the reds a fresher, more savory profile than many valley-floor Cabernets. For HeyVino readers, Sciandri offers small-production Coombsville wine with a warm, family-run tasting experience.
