Founded in 1978 by James and Barbara Allen in a century-old barn shaded by sequoias, on land that was part of the 1836 Rancho Caymus land grant. James Allen was a former UN interpreter and founding partner of Domaine Carneros; the winery has been owned by the Kopf family of Kobrand since 2002.
