Founded in 1988 by fourth-generation farmer Casey McClellan and his wife Vicky, Seven Hills was the fifth bonded winery in the Walla Walla Valley AVA. Casey planted the founding blocks of Seven Hills Vineyard with his father in 1980, among the first significant Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon plantings in the valley. The estate operates from a restored 1904 building in downtown Walla Walla, the only historic working winemaking facility in the city, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Its flagship Pentad is a five-grape Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Carmenere. Crimson Wine Group acquired the winery in 2016.
