Spring Mountain Vineyard is one of the grand historic estates of the Spring Mountain District above St. Helena. Its story begins with Tiburcio Parrott, who commissioned the Miravalle mansion in 1884 and established the winery and cave in 1885. The estate gained fame twice over: its wine placed fourth in the 1976 Judgment of Paris, and the Victorian mansion served as the setting for the CBS drama Falcon Crest from 1981 to 1990. Today the property spans 845 acres, with about 225 acres of vineyard in 135 blocks across four adjoining ranches: La Perla, Miravalle, Chevalier and Streblow. The estate was damaged in the 2020 Glass Fire and went through bankruptcy in 2022, and in July 2023 MGG California, an affiliate of the investment firm MGG Investment Group, took ownership with plans to replant and restore the vineyards. Spring Mountain Vineyard remains a landmark for anyone interested in Napa's mountain Cabernet and its history.
