Taylor Family Vineyards sits on 23 acres in the heart of the Stags Leap District, bought in 1976 by Jerry Taylor — a fifth-generation Napa resident who left an engineering career to farm. In 1980 he, his wife Pat and their children Scott, Sandy and Mike planted the first nine acres by hand, on their hands and knees. The family stayed growers for two decades until Sandy and her husband Phil pushed to become vintners, launching the label with the 2002 vintage. Production is roughly 2,200 cases sold only through the winery, anchored by estate Cabernet Sauvignon and the multi-appellation Cumulus blend, with additional fruit from Oak Knoll, St. Helena, Diamond Mountain and Yountville. Three generations still make up the entire staff, and tastings are often hosted by a seventh-generation Napa granddaughter alongside her grandmother.
