Terra Valentine occupies the historic Yverdon Winery site on Spring Mountain, a property whose founder reputedly posted a sign warning trespassers would be shot. Angus and Margaret Wurtele purchased the mountain property in 1996 and hired the Baxter family as winemakers; Sam Baxter later bought the winery outright in 2014, continuing to farm the compass-rose-shaped Wurtele Vineyard at up to 1,000 feet in elevation for structured, mountain-grown Cabernet Sauvignon.
