Originally founded in 1871 by George Burrage and Thomas Tucker on land from George Yount's estate, Vine Cliff became a Prohibition-era ghost winery before being restored by Nell and Chuck Sweeney in the 1980s and 90s. It was acquired in 2023 by GardaWorld founder Stephan Cretier and rebranded Vine Cliff 1871.
