Bibiana González Rave grew up in Medellín, Colombia with almost no exposure to wine culture and decided at fourteen that she would become a winemaker anyway. She moved to France alone to study viticulture and enology, took a degree at Bordeaux, and worked through Burgundy, Alsace, Cognac and the steep slopes of Côte-Rôtie before settling in California. Her label Cattleya — named for Colombia's national flower — launched in 2011, followed by the more accessible Alma de Cattleya and Shared Notes, a Sauvignon Blanc project with her husband Jeff Pisoni. She was among Wine Enthusiast's first "40 Under 40" in 2013 and San Francisco Chronicle Winemaker of the Year in 2015, consulting for Pahlmeyer and Wayfarer along the way. Her Rohnert Park tasting room also pours single-origin Colombian coffee she roasts herself.
