Founded in 1981 by Rick Small and his wife Darcey Fugman-Small as the second winery in the Walla Walla Valley, after Leonetti. Small, raised on a family wheat farm, was named Wine Spectator's Winemaker of the Year in 1992 and helped win approval of the Walla Walla Valley AVA in 1984.
